DBS
Disclosure and Barring Service
Community First are able to provide Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks for community groups and organisations.
If you are uncertain whether you need a DBS check please access our free tool kit. If you still have questions you can speak with one of our Development team who can provide you with advice on whether the activity requires a DBS and at what level (standard or enhanced) for your volunteers and employees.
The current rate for DBS checks is:
£10.00 + VAT for volunteers
£36.00 + VAT for employees
call 0300 500 8085 or email us to arrange a DBS check.
A DBS check is only a small part of good safeguarding practice, robust safeguarding policies and procedures are also required. DBS disclosures only inform you if a person has been caught and convicted; careful recruitment, training, implementation of policy and supervision is just as important.
DBS checks combine the criminal record checks with the barring service, so as well as checking for criminal convictions you can also check the list of those barred from working with children and /or vulnerable adults.
