Community First's Help and Support Directory is an easy to use directory of local community services. It has been created to help people connect with support services and community groups where they live.
This week a team of volunteers from A-Plan Insurance Southampton Branch, gave up a day’s work to volunteer at Shepherds Down School in Compton, Winchester, preparing the woodland area for the winter. Shepherds Down School has a core purpose of meeting the needs of primary aged pupils who have a wide range of complex learning needs. The event was organised by Community First as part of their Employee Volunteering Scheme, which works with a wide range of businesses across Winchester, East Hampshire and Havant to support the charity sector.
Ben Lynch, Branch Manager said “we were really pleased to be able to help a school that does such a fantastic job enabling children with support needs to thrive in a school environment. A-Plan Insurance is committed to supporting the community through it’s volunteering programme and looks forward to taking part in other community initiatives next year”.
Debbie Gooderham, Head teacher of Shepherds Down School says “we would like to wholeheartedly thank A-Plan Insurance for taking time off from work to volunteer at our school. Our woodland area has been given a good make-over preparing it for the colder months of the year to come. We really value the support of the business sector enabling us to get on with making the most of learning opportunities in our school grounds”.
Community First are looking for other businesses to get involved in the Employee Volunteering Scheme. For more information contact Janet Duggan, Business & Community Project Lead: email@example.com or telephone 0300 500 8085 ext 9722.
