Free Activities for Winchester Residents – 25-27 June

14/06/2018

PRESS RELEASE
Date: 13th June 2018
Subject: Free Activities for Winchester Residents

A relaunch of Unit 12, a community space based in Winnall, Winchester, is opening its doors to all Winchester residents on 25, 26 and 27 June. The open days are a great opportunity for visitors to try a varied programme of activities and to see what is on offer at the centre, particularly for young people aged 11-19 and those who are retired or semi-retired.

The event is being organised by Community First, UNIT 12 and St Swithun’s School, where 20 of their Year 11 students will helping to run the activity sessions. Janet Duggan, Volunteer Service Manager at Community First says “We are very excited to be working with St Swithun’s School to support a local community initiative. The students will have just finished their GCSE’s and were looking for a volunteering social action project to get involved with locally. We very much hope that Winchester residents will take the opportunity to come and get involved and find out about what a great provision UNIT 12 is for the community to enjoy”.

The Open Days run on Monday the 25th June (12pm – 3pm), Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th (both from 10am – 3pm) with activities including: basic first aid, table tennis, introduction to social media, walking football, yoga, pilates, circus skills, music therapy. There is also an opportunity to have a tour and stop for a drink in the friendly café which is being run by Autism Hampshire. Local school children will also be attending at various times over the course of the week. On the Wednesday at 1pm there is a BBQ with some of the activities being showcased. If you would like to attend the BBQ please email gill.burton@cfirst.org.uk.
