Volunteers’ Week 2019! – Where will we be?
Volunteers Week 2019!
It’s not long now until Volunteers’ Week, a national campaign to raise the profile of volunteering, saying thank you to our volunteers who are unsung heroes across our districts. Taking place during the first week in June, our Volunteer Service have a series of events organised. On Tuesday 4th June we are hosting the Havant Volunteer Awards with Havant Borough Council, taking place at the Plaza. Over 100 people will attend the prestigious event with volunteers from across the Borough being recognised for the outstanding contribution they make to the local community.
Pop along to Café 1759 in Bordon on Wednesday 5th between 12-3pm to talk to one of our volunteer team about what opportunities are available in East Hampshire. In Winchester on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th June (between 1030 & 1230) we will be in the Discovery Centre to showcase the range of local volunteering opportunities on offer. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to encourage people to try volunteering for the first time and help people find out how through volunteering they can make a difference to a cause they are passionate about.
On Thursday 6th we will be taking a team from a new company we are working with, Wärtsilä, to do a beach clean on Hayling Island.
A Social Action Day has been organised for the Friday (7th) at the Bordon Inclosure with the Dead Water Valley Trust in partnership with Signal. The event is open to all. All you need to do is register your place here and bring your wellies! It’s taking place from 0945-1300 and is FREE!
And finally in Fareham on the 8th (1000-1700) & 9th (1000-1600) to end Volunteers’ Week, we will be attending the DDay 75 event at HMS Daedalus. Our Fareham team will also be running a social media campaign throughout the week to showcase their volunteers and services they deliver.
