Recap: The latest Fareham & Gosport Voluntary Sector Health Forum meeting
History was made during COVID-19 for members of the Fareham and Gosport Voluntary Sector Health Forum – when the first ‘virtual’ Health Forum Update Meeting was convened on Monday 9 November 2020.
Tim Houghton, CEO Community First, provided an interesting overview of Hampshire’s Community & Voluntary Sector response to the COVID-19 period, highlighting some of the challenges people and local organisations alike are facing and the CVS support that has been put in place.
Clinical Directors Dr Ros Sexton (Coastal PCN) and Dr Robin Harlow (Gosport Central PCN) provided updates about local services and developments – reminding attendees that is was ‘business as usual’ as far as possible, during this period across the Fareham and Gosport GP surgeries.
Lucy Docherty, CCG Non-Executive Lay Advisor, Fareham and Gosport CCG highlighted some of key areas the CCG are focussing upon locally and of the forthcoming CCG operational changes to come…
The Health Forum concluded with brief updates about the British Red Cross services, the Fareham Community Hospital’s forthcoming newsletter and about how GVA’s Surgery Signposting service is closing at the end of November (due to funding). However, a similar GVA service – ‘Community Signposting & Listening’ will now operate until 31 March 2021 – to support those struggling with anxiety, mental health, bereavement and social isolation during the COVID-19 period.
Dates of the 2021 ‘virtual’ Fareham and Gosport Voluntary Sector Health Forum Meetings will be announced in the forthcoming Health Forum Newsletter.
