FAQ’s
Below is a collection of questions our team are frequently asked and the answers to those questions. You may find useful information relevant to your group or organisation here.
What funding is available related to COVID-19?
There has been a good deal of funding that has been made available specifically addressing issues around the pandemic. Some has come from central Government, some from local government and some from other charitable sources. As some is for specific topics or projects it is necessary to carefully check through what is available to discern what is appropriate for individual causes. Community First have produced a helpful spreadsheet to help groups and organisations navigate through the maze of opportunities – https://www.cfirst.org.uk/covid-19-funding/.
Groups are also being directed to Action Hampshire’s Funding Bulletin: https://actionhampshire.org/news-blog-events/covid-19-related-funding-opportunities/
Winchester City Council’s webpage https://www.winchester.gov.uk/grants/covid-19-community-support-grants and GOV.UK bulletins, for example: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/financial-support-for-voluntary-community-and-social-enterprise-vcse-organisations-to-respond-to-coronavirus-covid-19
How do I refer someone who is vulnerable and is unable to go shopping or fetch prescriptions?
In the first instance we direct people to the Hampshire Coronavirus Support and Helpline : 0333 370 4000
Winchester City Council also have support on 01962 848 060 or support@winchester.gov.uk
Also, Community First’s helpline is 0300 5000 8085 support@cfirst.org.uk
I might also mention the spreadsheet which has been created which outlines all the community groups in the Winchester area who are offering practical and emotional support. This can be viewed above.
What support is there for my community group?
Groups are welcome to email me (bruce.white@cfirst.org.uk), message or phone me (07384 115 320) for help. In addition, we are facilitating two virtual Google MEET Get Togethers.
One is for Charity Leaders form the Winchester Area, this happens fortnightly on a Friday and is hosted by our Chief Executive, Tim Houghton. This provides an opportunity to hear from others in the charity sector, offer mutual support and look at issues particularly affecting charities.
The other Get Together is for anyone from a community group, mutual aid group, parish council, village hall committee, social enterprise or community interest company. These happen every other Friday and are hosted by Community Development Officer, Bruce White. These meetings have looked at issues relevant to those attending and have involved introductions outline what our groups do, general discussion and focusing on current topics such as funding, lock down regulations and recovery plans/exit strategies.
