Funding Opportunities
Need support finding funding? Our Community Development Team is here to help.
Increase your skills in sourcing funds with the right training courses.
The Foundation was established by the family of Sir Robert McAlpine and gives grants to support small charities situated throughout the UK that fall within specific categories – namely children, youth, the elderly, social and medical research.
We support registered charities which meet the following criteria:
· Total income should be less than £1m per annum
· The funds must be used for a UK-based project
· We do not fund fundraising activities
· We do not support fund raising by established charities for a target sum
YOUR APPEAL
Your appeal should meet the criteria as set out out on the Contact page and consist of a maximum of two A4 pages outlining:
– Who you are
– Your charity number
– What work your charity does
– Details of the specific project for which you require funding
– The amount of funding you are looking for
– Your contact details, together with website address if you have one
Please enclose a copy of your most recent signed accounts.
The Trustees meet annually in November to approve grants. An application must be received no later than 15 August
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any appeal requests by telephone and all correspondence must be in writing either by email or post.

Lloyds Bank Foundation – Deaf and Disabled people’s organisations fund
This programme is for small and local charities and CICs with an income between £25,000 to £500,000 that are led by and working with Deaf and Disabled people who are experiencing poverty. Organisations can apply for a three-year unrestricted grant of £75,000.
Your organisation will work directly with Deaf and Disabled people over the long term to support them to have more choice and control over their lives, access their rights and entitlements, and challenge the barriers they face.
We give grants towards the building or refurbishment of scout huts, village halls, community centres, youth clubs, boxing clubs, outdoor activity centres, farm and outdoor learning centres, sports centres and pavilions, playing fields and playgrounds. We also fund the purchase of new minibuses that assist those most in need in their local communities.
How much can we apply for?
Our Trustees decide on the amount to be given so do not specify an amount unless there is a good reason for doing so – for example, you may only need a specific amount to meet your fundraising target.
Projects that cost £100,000 or less can only receive a maximum of £5,000.
Our grants are offered as a contribution to your overall project costs as we do not fully fund projects.
We offer three levels of grants. These are large grants of £25,000 and above; medium grants of up to £20,000 and small grants of £5,000 and under. Our large and medium grants are considered and agreed upon at our Trustees’ meetings. Our small grants are agreed by Trustees on a monthly basis and form the majority of our grants.
Small grants are normally awarded to projects costing £100,000 and under.
