Employers have a duty to provide their workers (employees, volunteers, contractors and visitors) with a safe place to work. They must provide information, training and supervision, otherwise they are in breach of the health and safety law that applies to all workplaces in the UK.

All public premises are required by law to have a fire risk assessment. As part of that risk assessment, fire marshals will be required to endeavour to prevent fire and facilitate a quick and safe evacuation for the staff they are responsible for. The industry-wide standard requires companies to renew their workers’ fire marshal qualification every 3 years, but this may be annually, depending on the recommendations of their fire risk assessment.

This HSE and IOSH content-compliant course will provide you key skills and information about fire safety.

Topics Covered:

Prevention of fire – hazard spotting
Speedy and safe evacuation in an emergency
Fire safety and the law
The costs of fire
The fire triangle – spread and behaviour
How to save lives and minimising damage
Fire safety Equipment
Setting up your fire safety procedures
The duties of the fire marshal
