This practical and engaging course is designed to equip workplace first aiders with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills to respond confidently and effectively in a range of emergency situations.

What You’ll Learn:
1. The Role of a Workplace First Aider
Gain a clear understanding of your responsibilities, including how to reduce infection risks and obtain consent before providing first aid.

2. Incident Assessment
Learn how to assess a situation safely, carry out initial checks on a casualty, and know when and how to get additional help.

3. Responding to Unresponsive Casualties
Develop the skills to perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and place a casualty in the recovery position. You'll also learn how to respond to seizures.

4. Managing Choking
Identify the signs of mild and severe choking and learn how to provide effective treatment.

5. Treating External Bleeding
Recognise different levels of bleeding and practice techniques to control it safely.

6. Understanding and Treating Shock

7. Managing Minor Injuries
Understand how to treat everyday workplace injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters, and minor burns or scalds.

A certificate will be issued which will be valid for 3 years. This is a Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) qualification which is CPD certified.

No prior knowledge is necessary however this is a regulated course and so, as such, there are minimum standards that must be met. One relates to the minimum training time whilst others relate to the course content and completion of assessments. The awarding of a certificate to successful attendees is dependent on showing competency and not merely attendance. Therefore, attendees must be capable of completing all of the practical assessments, including the completion of resuscitation for a minimum of two minutes. This, and other practical elements require the attendee to be able, for instance, to kneel on the floor whilst completing resuscitation or placing a casualty in the recovery position. If you have any concerns about these requirements, please let us know before the course.
