Fareham Turkey and Tinsel Lunch is seeking donations to keep vulnerable warm this Christmas

We’re looking for donations of scarves, fluffy socks, microwave warmers, hot water bottles and fleece blankets to help brighten the festive period for vulnerable people in the community.

Donations will be given out at our Turkey & Tinsel Christmas Lunch, for people who find themselves alone at Christmas. This year’s event has already reached capacity.

Jo Isgar, Digital Inclusion Lead at Community First, said: “Many older people in the community struggle to keep warm at this time of year and Christmas can also be particularly difficult for people living alone. These donations may be the only present they receive over the festive period.

“We would like to give them gifts that are not only practical to look after their health but will hopefully bring a smile to their faces.”

We’ret inviting people to bring donations to its offices at 163 West Street, Fareham, PO16 0EF, before Monday December 18.

The Turkey & Tinsel Christmas Lunch will be held on Saturday December 23 at St John’s Church Hall in Fareham. Community First and volunteers will welcome 80 locals for a special three-course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings!

Monetary donations to support the lunch can be made via Just Giving.
