A New Home Help, A New Friend

Chloe, 25, recently started as a Home Help in the Fareham area and is already loving it. As well as light housework and laundry the home help can offer a friendly face and a regular connection for those who want to remain living independently.

Chloe loves helping out others and the ability to choose her own hours sounded perfect. She’s enjoyed doing some befriending volunteering in the past and when she found out about the Home Help service, she was instantly interested.

She chose to become a Home Help because of the freedom to work as many or as few hours as she likes. The role is really flexible and fits in with her study at University. Earning extra money is a really big bonus as well.

“My experience of beginning work as a Home Help has been a really positive one. I was both excited and apprehensive before my first visit in the knowledge that I would be entering someone’s home and had a strong desire to want to get things perfect for them.”

“Upon my first few visits, I realised how friendly the clients are and how grateful they were to have help. If I was unsure of anything, I asked and they were more than willing to point me in the right direction. The friendly nature of the job allows for great communication with the client. This allows you to ensure that they are happy with the work you have completed.”

It doesn’t matter what your background is working as a Home Help can be such a rewarding job. You can even fit your working week around the school runs!

“Visiting has become more like going to see a family member or a friend. The clients’ kindness and gratitude make this a very rewarding position.”

Community First’s Home Help service runs in Fareham, Havant, and their surrounding areas. Find out more about our Home Help service for yourself or a loved one.
