MiDAS Training Centre

As a trusted Community Transport provider, Community First is proud to be recognised as an accredited MiDAS Training Centre supporting safe, confident, and competent minibus driving across the sector.

Our MiDAS Driver Assessors deliver the practical, on-road component of the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) the nationally recognised standard for individuals required to drive a minibus. They conduct essential driving assessments, carry out licence and eligibility checks, provide constructive feedback, and offer tailored guidance to help improve driving confidence and safety. Ultimately, they assess whether candidates meet the criteria to achieve MiDAS certification.

As one of only a select number of centres across the UK, our Training Centre is also authorised to train and certify new MiDAS Driver Assessors, in addition to delivering refresher training to ensure existing certifications remain valid and up to date.

We currently offer three training pathways, designed to meet the varying needs of our participants:

  • MiDAS Driver Assessor Training – Standard
  • MiDAS Driver Assessor Training – Refresher

Whether you’re an organisation looking to upskill your team or an individual seeking certification, Community First is here to support your training journey with expert guidance and a commitment to community-focused transport.

MiDAS Driver Certification

We also offer the new one day Midas Driver Certification course, which includes an online theory assessment followed by a practical driving assessment.

To gain certification, the following steps must be completed:

STANDARD INDUCTION

STEP ONE
Book your course using the booking link on this page. You will receive a booking confirmation and a link to access the online content, which consists of 90 minutes of interactive e-learning. This covers the legal responsibilities of drivers and the essential theoretical knowledge needed to provide safe, legal, and comfortable journeys.

STEP TWO
On successful completion of the theory modules, email bookings@cfirst.org.uk and a practical session will be scheduled with you.

STEP THREE
A driving assessment will take place at our Fareham office or for a group of delegates from the same organisation a visit to your location may be arranged. This session lasts up to 45 minutes per delegate and takes place in a minibus, working one-to-one with a Driver Assessor. It provides drivers with an opportunity to ask questions based on their online learning and is tailored to their needs and ability.

ACCESSIBILITY INDUCTION

Drivers wishing to gain a certificate that includes accessibility training will follow the same three steps, with the addition of theory and practical content covering the following areas:

1. Passenger-centred journeys, boarding and alighting, and the use of specialist accessible equipment.

2. A demonstration by a Driver Assessor showing best practice in the use of a passenger lift or ramp and WTORS (Wheelchair Tie-down and Occupant Restraint Systems).

3. An assessment of the driver’s ability to demonstrate safe practice when using a passenger lift (or ramp) and WTORS.

All MiDAS certificates last for 4 years.
