Befriending and Advocacy Success in Gosport

Our Befriending and Advocacy volunteers were invited to an evening get-together recently. A brilliant opportunity to meet fellow volunteers, grab a warm drink and a biscuit, and share stories.
Thank you to Stephen (and his action hero friend) from the Good Neighbours Network for delivering some energy advice through the Positive Energy Project.

Thanks also to Tim Houghton, Community First CEO, for meeting with the volunteers and learning about the support they provide to members of the Gosport community.

It was lovely to see you all and hope you enjoyed the session.

Befriending Example: Melva

Melva contacted the Befriending service as her circumstances had left her feeling ‘out of touch with the world’ and feeling lonely. Befriending introduced her to one of our wonderful volunteers, Heather. They now meet once a week and can regularly be found enjoying some tea and cake together or going for a walk along the beach together (weather permitting!).
For Melva this has been very positive. She says: ‘The opportunity to meet up with a friend on a weekly basis is most welcome. I can count on seeing [Heather], so any matters that are concerning me, I know I can discuss with her. She listens and understands. She has been a huge help and I’ve grown to trust her. We get on very well.’
