Gosport Befriending

Community First‘s Close Encounters befriending and advocacy service has closed (30 April 2026) following the end of National Lottery funding.

The service has made a meaningful difference to people experiencing loneliness and isolation, and we are grateful for the support of partners and the community.

We’re pleased to share that the existing team will continue their work through a new independent organisation, Gosport Community Support, which is expected to launch shortly after a brief transition period.

Their aim is to build on the strong foundations already in place and continue supporting older people in Gosport.

Community First will remain involved during this transition, providing support to help ensure continuity and stability.

Current beneficiaries will continue to be supported, CHAT groups will remain in place, and we welcome ongoing collaboration with partners.
