Gosport Walking Past
Thanks to funding from Historic England and Gosport Borough Council we have been able to bring the Walking Past project to life and make it accessible to all.
To make this happen we have collaborated with Seekers Create to produce a series of podcasts which focus on 5 of our walking past walks.
The 5 walks are
The walking past project then worked with many different members from our local community including, veterans, young people, disability groups, refuges and older adults to incorporate art in to the project enabling seekers create to create a community mural.
On Saturday 13th January we un-veiled the Walking Past Community Mural at the walk way next to Gosport bus station.

Walking Past was a Heritage (Lottery) Funded project. Due to COVID-19 the project was paused in 2020, and completed in October 2021.

Our 6 walks are:
Queen Victoria’s Railway (Stoke Road, Crescent Gardens, Green Lane, Foster Gardens)
Diving in to Stanley Park (Diving Museum, Stanley Park, Stokes Bay, Alverstoke Village)
Waterfront North (Gosport TIC, Clarence Marina, Priddy’s Hard, Explosion Museum, High Street)
Waterfront South (Gosport TIC, Haslar Bridge, Submarine Musuem, Trinity Green, High Street)
Forts and Walks (Fort Brockhurst, Monks Wood, The Hardway)
Mottes and Trenches (Alver Valley Country Park, Browndown North)
Our Summer Series of Walking Past walks took place in July/August 2021 at five different locations. Walks also took place during Gosport Heritage Open Days in September 2021.
Walks will soon be downloadable so that you can go on your own self-led Walking Past walk, hosted by The Outdoor Guide. Check out their website for for all the details- you will be able to download and/or print the walks.
